Jacobsburg State Park - Henry's Woods & Bushkill Creek
I went for a walk at Jacobsburg State Park today.
It was cold enough to see your breath in the shadow of the cliff
and yet warm enough to take your coat off when the sun appeared.
I taught my beloved Norwegian Elkhound to swim in this creek,
I missed him today.
The photo is of the Henry Family picnicking in the woods

Wednesday
The Holiday is behind me now and I can begin to relax
and think about what I want to accomplish for the new year.
The ivory roses were a gift to myself and they are absolutely beautiful.
Sophie received a new ironing board cover for Christmas
It is her official perch and sleeping place
I taught my brother to crochet in August and he presented me with this
afghan for Christmas! It's my most treasured gift.
I also received this amazing knitting book from my other brother's family.
The hat is nearly done.
Thank you to all my family for their love and generosity this Christmas.

Merry Christmas
"It's not the things you do at Christmas time;
It's the Christmas things you do all year through!"
-Jammy Cahn and Jim Van Huesan
A dear friend dropped off a bottle of wine for me with this quote on the card.
Missing all my family and friends this holiday.
I'm off to the mountains tonight.
Merry Christmas.

Monday
A dogwood tree against the grey sky...lovely
I smelled the paperweights before I noticed the blooms
Today I did laundry and had to rip out the third attempt at a hat
fourth time a charm?
hope so

Sunday

A very cold camping trip last night
Canadian Geese migrating along the mountain chain at midnight
18F by morning...the pond froze overnight
Back home the late day sun threw shadows like Japanese prints around my bedroom

Saturday
It's a grey, brown and toffee colored day. There were snow flurries this afternoon as I started a pot of chili. The yarn reminds me of a dark chocolate caramel...it will soon become a hat. The little dancing mouse is gouache, colored pencil, rubber stamp and collage on an unfinished wood panel. It's a silly little thing but it makes me smile.

Wednesday
It's Wednesday and no rain yet, predicted for tomorrow though. A glimpse of my fridge door, yarn everywhere and a sesame bagel with veggie cream cheese.

Holiday Lights
There are two ways to light your home
for the Holiday season...
...the under stated |
...and the over stated! |
Sorry for the blurry quality of the photos,
I had to dodge rush hour traffic to snap these shots.
Happy Monday.

Staying in Sunday
My sore throat has returned and I decided to stay in my flannel pajamas all day. I rearranged the board next to my drawing table and finished the terrible little painting. (At least it's out of my way and I can move on to the next one.) I'm tired of feeling tired...off for another cup of Gypsy Cold Care tea and some knitting.
