Tuesday - Micanopy

Bright sun in Micanopy this morning.
My beloved Live Oak trees line the main street.
(Spanish Moss makes me swoon!)

I always buy a book from the used book seller in town.
The title and red cover made this one irresistible.

A much needed rain storm this evening.
Tomorrow...the beach and my search for sharks' teeth!

Monday - Homosassa Springs

Today we went to see Manatees at Homosassa Springs.
They are amazingly gentle and seem to love both the
attention and the lettuce treats.

To reach the wildlife center we took a pontoon boat up Pepper Creek.
The underwater viewing area provided a unique perspective...
an eye to eye encounter with the giants.

The last photo is of a commercial fisherman's shack.

Sunday - Haile Plantation, Florida

Today I visited a local Florida home built in 1856.
The interior walls are covered with signatures, shopping lists and drawings made
by previous residents and invited guests.

It was over 90F and the combination of open layout and 16' ceilings encouraged a breeze...
but it was still quite hot.

Still, how lovely it would be to sit on the wide porch with a tall glass of iced tea, listening to the cicadas and knitting...even better during a rainstorm...
