in the mailbox

The latest issue of Selvedge magazine came the other day
and with it a pair of lisa b socks as a thank you for my renewal.

I already peeked at my online copy but treasure sitting
down with the paper issue and my morning coffee.

Also, I was surprised to find a copy of the
October 2013 Knit Picks catalog in my mailbox.
How unusual to see a mail order type catalog for yarn.

I must admit to a slight gasp when I opened to the page above.
Perhaps my stash would look this way if not squirreled away
in moth proof bags and storage containers.

It's a more than perfect day here weather wise.
The sun still warm and bright but cool enough for a light sweater.
Our autumnal equinox only three days away...

stolen afternoon

I was able to leave work a little early today so I dropped by the
grocery to pick up some tilapia and an ear of corn and then went home.

I repotted my chives, tomatoes, basil, rosemary and strawberry plants,
then cooked up my dinner and settled in with the latest issue of Selvedge.
The scarf is an ongoing project; easy to pick up and put down.

It's been raining steadily all day and should carry over into tomorrow.
The robins are laughing as earthworms crawl out of the soggy ground,
escaping the water only to be gobbled up, an easy meal.

I'll knit a bit then curl up with a book and go to bed early.
My stolen afternoon...

Food for Thought

I just received my January/February issue of Selvedge magazine.
There is always something to delight between the pages.
This time it's embroiderer Karen Nicol and her book Embellished: New Vintage

I haven't read the article yet; I like to take it in small delicious morsels!
Will definitely have to check out the book.

A featured quote,

"It's of no benefit to mindlessly copy.
We have to add the magic of our way of seeing."

First Snow

leaning out my window
paper clay beasties
love this cover

I woke this morning to the unmistakable silence of snowfall.
Small flakes falling steadily onto the backs of squirrels.
I wish that I could take off from work on the first snowfall of the year
to tromp through the woods (with a hawk on my arm!)

Sorry I haven't been posting as regularly, life is a whirlwind as of late.
Dutifully knitting away and squeezing bits of paper clay into beasties.
Hope that everyone is happy, safe and well.

Wednesday Morning

I've decided to reacquaint myself with my toes
and have started to do some yoga again.
In the past my practice has been inconsistent...to say the least
Time to polish those toenails and get back to work!

I have been working on some new book ideas but it's been slow going.

Watered the plants, smelled a peony
and spent coffee time with the new issue of Selvedge.
