Morning Walkabout

Walking around the apartment this morning,
trying to see the usual things in a new way.

Eagles, Acorns and Apple Cider

Osprey
Bald Eagle

An acorn left behind until I can return...

The last of my vacation photos, I promise!

The birds of prey will be migrating through November.
Because of the excellent trout river, those who fish are readily found.
(Sorry about the blurry eagle photo, it was quite far away and
my little camera made a valiant effort to zoom in.)

Hot Apple Cider helped warm me after a rainy hike,
but it seems I've caught a bit of a cold from the adventure.

So it's a cup of tea and off to bed early for me.

Puddle Rain

A dark day of heavy downpours as a
cloud sat down on the mountain.

I spent the morning making polymer clay acorns
to be used as stitch markers in my knitting.

Reading, knitting, napping
and homemade veggie soup.

A beautiful day

Walnuts and Acorns

The trees know that the season is changing
even if the heat and humidity linger.

At home I park under an oak tree and at work a walnut.
Crunching acorns and kicking walnuts in the parking lot.

Wild Carrots, Acorns and Bears

My fascination with Queen Ann's Lace this year has been apparent.
But what of the lovely root that gives it the common name, wild carrot.
Definatley my summer plant this year.

The acorns are growing and the squirrels have begun to feast.
The branches they fell reveal the tiny nuts.
Although it's still quite hot, summer has begun to turn.

I spent the afternoon cutting a new accordion book.
It was difficult for me to photograph, so this is just a preview.

A thoughtful bear watches over a campsite.
I'm really quite fond of bears.
Missing the smell of a campfire tonight...

After Work

I came home tonight and parked under an oak tree.
Branches hung low and I noticed the acorns are beginning to form.
Further up I saw one of my dear Mourning Doves.
She was preening and even managed a yawn,
which I wasn't quick enough to photograph.

Upon checking my mail, I found a note from V!
She has returned from her vacation in Northern Norway
and was thoughtful enough to send me the prettiest postcard.
I must get better at sending postcards, they are such fun to receive.
Her photos and description of the Midnight Sun are magical.
Welcome back, dear friend.
You were well missed.
