snowstorm!

mocking bird
tufted titmouse

finished?
next one!

Early this morning a strong storm dropped
about 10" of snow at a rate of 2-3" an hour.

An afternoon lull brought some cold rain and now
another 3-6"of snow is expected this evening.

My work was closed today and
other than the necessary task of shoveling out my car
I've stayed inside, painted and watched a movie.
Sadly, my hands hurt too much to knit right now.

The birds were taking turns at my feeder all day.
Poor little ones still found the courage to sing at my window.
I can't wait to see the ground again…!

staying warm

It's 4f/-15c this morning but the sky is bright blue.
Put the first coat of blue on the latest flying horse painting
and then did a little work on another pair of mittens.

Quick photo of Miss Sophie taken with my phone last night.
Hope are all having a warm week!

things that fly

It's been bitterly cold here with a wind chill bringing the
real feel temperature down to -35f.  Brrrrr!

A recent snow storm brought a flock of Robins to the treeline,
a bird I am not accustomed to seeing until mid March.

My flying fish paintings are now done and I've moved on to horses
suspended with balloons!
I may not possess the technical skill of Patrice
but I am thoroughly enjoying the process of painting again.

Friday is fast approaching!

pumpkin patch

Saturday I went to my favorite orchard with the intention
of picking apples, but it was so crowded I bought some in the
farm shop and made for the pumpkin patch further down the road.

The three beautiful Clydesdales pulled a wagon
full of hay and visitors around 'None Such Farm.'
I loved the jingling of their harness and the thunder
of their hooves as they trotted along side the fields.

Three pumpkins found their way home with me.
(one orange, one white and the variegated one shown)
Soon I'll be carving their faces and roasting the seeds.

The grey wrap is my latest weaving project.
(Again, I'm found out in the park dressing trees!)
A young man and his dog couldn't help but stare
as I smiled and wished them a good day.

It's back to work tomorrow....but I've had a wonderful week
spent outdoors and surrounded by yarn.

The Drive Home

Barn quilts and sunflowers
a missed turn
home to boiling clouds...

The trip took longer than expected
but that wasn't a bad thing.

Easter Sunday

Grape Hyacinths I planted in a secret place last year and a treasured
glass egg both on my nightstand.

I went for a drive this afternoon, the farm is a favorite as is the horse
in the paddock to the left.

This morning I put some chocolate eggs in a little nest.
I came home to my own Easter Egg Hunt, courtesy of the cat!
There is still one I haven't found yet.

Thanks Sophie  :)
Happy Easter

Friday

Photos from my bulletin board at work.

While stopped in traffic on my way home I saw this homeless
man sitting in the park, looking at the trees.

Still working on the books.
On my way to the table now.

Have a great weekend.

St Patrick's Day Parade

I had intended to go shopping in Downtown Bethlehem today
and was surprised to find there was a parade on Main Street.

I've not been to a parade since I was a little girl.
There were festively adorned police horses, bagpipes, kilts,
plenty of dogs and high school marching bands.
I do have a soft spot for men in kilts!

It was a beautiful and fun day.
A happy accident.

Sunday - Golden light

Despite a nasty cold I went for a ride up and over the Blue Mountain.
A hunter's cabin, view from the top and the Appalachian Trail Northbound.
The golden late day sun did not go unnoticed.

Monday - Signs of Spring

I took a long ride down along the Delaware River today.
It's one of my favorite drives with many side roads and secret
places I've been visiting for years.

There are two lambs at the top of the sheep photo.
A sunbathing friend came over to say hello, my hand still
smells of horse.

The snowdrops and aconites are sure signs that the season is
beginning to change.
Oh, the sharp smell of those lovely yellow flowers!

Yes, I did my annual 'yellow flower dance' and was not ashamed :)
